Abu Bakr (Radiya-Allahu 'anhu)

He is:  Abu Bakr Abdullah [originally called Abdul-Ka’bah then the prophet named him Abdullah] the son of Abi Quhaafah – his name was Uthmaan – the son of Aamir, Al-Qureshi, At-taymee. His lineage meets that of the prophet in Murrah.

He was born in Makkah; he lived as a leader from the leaders of Quresh, a rich merchant, and a scholar in the lineage of the Arab tribes, their stories and their divisions. The Arabs used to call him the ‘scholar of Quraish’. He forbade alcohol from himself in the pre-Islamic period and never drank. 

He was the first one to gather the Qur’an in a book, he was the only companion that his companionship was mentioned in the Qur’an in the saying of Allah: إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ لا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا  (which is translated as): “and he (Sala allahu alayhi wa salam) said to his companion (Abu Bakr): "Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allah is with us.

He was the only companion that was blessed to be a companion himself, his father and his son and daughters.

He took part in all of the battles, he tolerated all types of hardships, and he gave his wealth for the sake of Allah. He has 142 ahaadeeth (narration from the prophet) in the books of Hadeeth.

He died Tuesday evening 21st of Jamadi Akhir 13AH, his khilaafah lasted 2 years and 100 days.
